I received an email from someone asking me to explain the three options regarding Zim Bond redemption. I replied with the following:
Thank you for your email. Happy to meet new people – better late than never. While no one really knows how Zim redemption will work, MarkZ’s theory has struck me as the most logical and equitable. He has a short video on the topic, which you can watch here. However it’s fairly simple and on which I based the Humanitarian Zim page. Essentially there are 3 options from which you choose:
Option 1 – Street Rate – A flat rate at which you redeem your Zim bonds. This is 100% your money with no humanitarian connections. This is the “worst case” scenario but still life changing money and responsibility. In Mark’s theory, the total at this rate is now the amount you will be personally blessed with in each of the other options. I have heard estimates of this rate of $0.11 to above $0.50 however, a rate which Mark has been told is $0.36. These rates are all per 1,000,000 Zim. This is why I set the Default rate at 0.36 on the site. So a 100 T Zim bond would redeem for $36 Million.
Option 2 – Contract Rate w/ Preapproved Humanitarian Projects – In this option, your personal blessing remains the same however, you will be redeeming for more and giving a portion to one or many (your choice) pre-approved humanitarian projects.
Option 3 – Contract Rate w/ YOUR Humanitarian Project(s) – Here, your persona blessing also remains fixed. Then you will be asked to present your project(s) to receive additional funding. No one is certain of any details regarding the projects nor the long term requirements and fiduciary responsibilities that may accompany the funding. With the large amounts of money in play, I personally feel very few projects will be approved. I hope I’m wrong and everyone gets their projects approved but I’m only trying to help people consider all options and prepare accordingly.
That being said, I feel like most people will choose option 2 – receiving a blessing and helping humanity in the process. This was my purpose for writing my Open Letter. To let everyone know they can (and I feel should) do A LOT of good with their wealth.
Sorry for the lengthy explanation I hope this helps you prepare.
Jay
